Parade of Lights


Theme: Gulch History

The Parade of Lights is a Downtown Holiday tradition to kick off the Holiday season. The parade is co-sponsored by the Helena Business Improvement District and Downtown Helena, Inc. to gather friends and families to kick-off the holiday season with the official lighting of the world’s only downtown Firetower as the Guardian of the Gulch. Businesses, clubs, school groups, teams, non-profit organizations and individuals are encouraged to participate by entering a float, ATV’s, motorcycles, cars, trucks, boats and even lighted dogs or folks.

Prizes will be awarded to the Best of Show in each category:

Floats $100 Downtown Helena Gift Card
ATV/Car/Motorcycle $50 Downtown Helena Gift Card
Walkers (2 or 4 legged) $25 Downtown Helena Gift Card

Entry fees are as follows:
Floats/Car Clubs $40
ATV’s/Single Car etc. $25
Walking Entries $15

PARADE ROUTE: Parade formation starts at 5:30 p.m. at Fuller and Placer Avenues (by Finstad’s Carpet One). Volunteers with orange vests will direct you to your line-up position. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and goes from Fuller Avenue to Placer, turns right onto Last Chance Gulch, proceeds through the Walking Mall past the library and Pioneer Park. The parade will end at the Lewis & Clark Library and the official lighting of the historic Firetower and awards will immediately follow.


  • Please No alcoholic beverages on floats or consumed during the parade
  • Please No throwing candy (or other items) from floats. Candy can only be handed out
