1st Annual Squash-a-palooza

Sat October 5th, 2013 to Sat October 5th, 2013

3:00 PM
7:00 PM

In an effort to promote the local food movement and “squash” domestic and

sexual violence at the same time, Helena Local is putting on the 1st Annual Squash-a-palooza

event. Helena Local is ordering 2000 pounds of squash from Western Montana Growers Co-op,

which is an affiliation of sustainable, local farmers in the Flathead, Jocko, Mission and

Bitterroot Valleys.

The squash will be sold to the community, and the proceeds will go to benefit Helena

Local, a new non-profit startup whose mission is promoting local food production and

consumption in the Helena area. Some of the proceeds will also go to a community benefactor,

under the theme of “squashing” domestic and sexual violence in Helena. The event will be held

on Saturday, October 5th, 2013 from 3-7pm in Pioneer Park, located in downtown Helena.

There will be a local band (Balled in Burlap) playing music for a contra-dance, activities for

kids, local food vendors, face painting and some local prize giveaways.
