November is Small Business Month

Small Business Saturday is the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 25th.  This is a day to consciously shop local and support local small business.  This is also a day when consumers use their American Express card, they get money back for their purchases.

  • Small businesses account for 99.7% of all business in the US.
  • Small businesses donate 250% more than larger businesses to non-profits and community causes
  • If you spend $100 at a local business, roughly $68 stays in the local community.

Shopping on line is so convenient, but consider some of these issues before you “click”:

  • Purchases from a local small business have people, often times friends and neighbors, that will be there if you have a problem.
  • Your local purchases pay the salaries of local people and they will in turn spend their salaries in Helena.  Keep our small businesses open and people employed!
  • Local businesses contribute to local charities, schools, and non-profits.  Although Amazon Smile contributes back to your charity of choice, it is not nearly the amount of direct support our local small businesses contribute to making Helena a great place to live and play.

It takes all kinds and sizes of businesses to make a community a great place to live.  We appreciate all the businesses in Helena, but consider shopping local and Downtown on Small Business Saturday.  Downtown is Distinctly Helena and Uniquely Downtown!
